The newly refurbished Fairmead Sure Start Children's and
Community Centre was officially opened on Thursday, 25 June 2009 by
Strictly Star and rugby legend Austin Healey. Families
enjoyed a fun packed day of activities which included a
climbing wall, yoga, baby massage, sing-a-song a story, face
painting, and bingo. There was also a free community
barbecue, and specially-made healthy fruit smoothies for children
and adults.
The centre in Fairmead is the third Children's
and Community Centre to be opened in the Borough of Melton.
The building consists of a Community Hall and Kitchen on the ground
floor, and a Children's Activity Room and a Consultation Room on
the first floor. A wide range of activities tailored for
the local community will be offered at the centre, including
activites for 0-5 year olds, a youth club and community events.
