Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP)
The Melton Area Safer Communities Partnership (the
CDRP for
Melton) formed as a result of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 which
placed a statutory duty on the police, local authority, county
council, primary care trust, police authority and fire authority to
work together in order to develop and implement a community safety
strategy designed to reduce crime and disorder within their local
authority area.
For this purpose the Melton Area Safer Communities Partnership
is required to produce a 3 year 'rolling' community safety strategy
which is reviewed annually through a strategic assessment. To
assist in identifying the community safety issues which matter most
to communities the Partnership prepares an annual strategic
assessment which is based on community consultation, crime audits
and statistical information from all partner agencies.
Based on the 2009/10 strategic assessment the MASCP
identified the following priorities for the third year of the
Community Safety Plan 2008-2011:
1. Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour:
'To reduce the incidents of serious and persistent
anti-social behaviour'.
2. Tackling Domestic Abuse:
'Providing robust intervention to tackle domestic
abuse'.
3. Reducing Re-offending: 'To
prevent re-offending and reduce the impact of offending on the
community'.
4. Substance Misuse: 'To
reduce the harm caused by substance misuse including
alcohol'.
5. Burglary: 'To reduce the
levels of all burglary in the Borough'.
6. Road Safety: 'To enhance
road safety and reduce the levels of killed and seriously
injured in the Borough'.
