Domestic Abuse

Domestic abuse is physical, psychological, financial, sexual or control and isolation that takes place within an intimate or family type relationship which forms a pattern of coercive and controlling behaviour. Domestic Violence is a particularly prevalent and damaging crime which affects, on average, one in four women in their lifetime. It is also the violent crime least likely to be reported to the police.

Melton Borough Council forms part of a local Domestic Abuse Forum which brings together key agencies with a shared commitment to reducing domestic abuse by developing robust interventions and promoting services available to those seeking support.

For further information about the Domestic Abuse Forum please contact the Community Safety Officer at Melton Borough Council on 01664 502 502.
