Meetings of the Council and its Committees are open to the public, however, there are a number of reasons why the Council may wish to exclude the public from a meeting these include:
These reasons are set out in the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended) Schedule 12A. If the Council wishes to exclude the public, it must make a resolution stating under which paragraph of Section 12A it is doing so. In all other cases, meetings of the Council and its Committees must remain open to the public and press.
