HIGHWAY WORKS
During the consultation process, the new road
and improved layout of the access into the site was raised as an
area of interest. A number of plans have now been
made available – please see below. These show the improved
access that will shortly commence work in a series of approximately
5 phases.
The junction of the new access road onto
Burton Street will be improved and better visibility will be
created for right turners coming out from the new development,
re-surfacing works will be carried out at this location on
completion of the junction works and the width of the access road
will be sufficient to enable two vehicles to exit the site left and
right to help improve traffic flow.
Free car parking spaces to serve the Burton
Street shops will be further along Burton Street and a wider
footpath will be created to improve pedestrian access and improve
the area visually.
In the middle of Burton Street near the Mill
Street junction, a new Pelican Crossing will be available for
pedestrians that will improve the existing crossing arrangements
and a detailed plan is shown below.
