Hoardings Around Site
Three Melton Primary
Schools have been lucky enough to have their artwork displayed in
Melton for all to see. As the new Council offices are being
built, their colourful designs are being shown on the hoardings
surrounding the new building works in Burton Street.
Primary schools in Melton
were invited to enter the competition to design a piece of artwork
to go around the building site entitled ‘Animals in the
Countryside’. Three schools were chosen as winners from the
entries for their colourful and inventive work: Croxton Kerrial,
Sherard and Waltham on the Wolds.
Malise Graham, Leader of
the Council, said :
‘The Children's
interpretation of 'Animals in the Countryside' provides
an interesting and colourful display which will be seen by hundreds
of people over the coming months. The Council is
delighted to be involved in this project with local
schools.’
Councillor Elaine Holmes
who judged the school entries when she was Mayor last year added
:
‘I was extremely
impressed by the standard of the schools’ entries and it made
the judging very difficult to choose the winning drawings. I feel
proud of the schools’ achievements and for the dedication of the
teachers in promoting this project in the Borough’s primary
schools.’
The students’ entries are
on display on the walkway to the station surrounding the
building works over the coming months for visitors and
residents of the Borough to see alongside Borough photographs as
well as a timeline of Melton.
It is felt important for
local people and visitors to know about the history and chronology
of Melton and the Council is glad for the opportunity to display
this information at such an accessible town location.
Vision panels have been
inset within the hoardings so that the public can safely watch
activities on the site.
