4th March 2009

Concessionary train travel for people aged 60 and over and for disabled people resident in the Borough of Melton has been reinstated from 1 April 2009, following a decision by the Council.

For people aged 60 or over, travel  passes are valid for half fare train travel at all times on train journeys wholly within Leicestershire (including to and from Leicester), and between Leicestershire stations and Derby, Nottingham, Grantham, Peterborough, Kettering and Nuneaton. This therefore includes the stations at Melton Mowbray and Bottesford.

For disabled people who meet the scheme criteria, passes are valid for free travel at all times on train journeys wholly within Leicestershire (including to and from Leicester), and between Leicestershire stations and Derby, Nottingham, Grantham, Peterborough, Kettering and Nuneaton. This therefore includes the stations at Melton Mowbray and Bottesford.

This scheme and other travel schemes, including free bus travel, are provided for by Melton Borough Council and administered by Leicestershire County Council.
