COUNCIL COMPLETES PURCHASE OF TOWN STATION SITE

The Council can report that on 6th
August 2009 it acquired the remaining part of the Town Station
Site, Burton Street, in order to take forward its new offices
project.
The Council’s project managers EC Harris are
currently undertaking studies prior to demolition contractors
starting on the site to prepare the site for building works.
Deputy Leader Councillor David Wright
said:
“We are delighted to now have total control of
this strategic site and we are working with our partners and
architects to make sure we have the best office development
possible to regenerate this site that has laid dormant for so many
years.”
The Council will be liaising further with the
Town Centre Partnership in taking this project forward.
Further public consultation is planned as part of the project.
