COUNCIL GIVEN GO-AHEAD FOR NEW BUILD
PRESS
RELEASE
9 MARCH 2010
The Council has now satisfied the Environment
Agency’s requirements for sustainable drainage solutions (SUDS) on
the Burton Road site.
The granting of Planning Permission was
dependent upon this and has now been granted by the Planning
Authority so that the building work can proceed, subject to several
conditions.
Councillor Malise Graham said:
"So much has been achieved in a relatively
short period of time and it is rewarding that all the hard
work put into getting to this stage has paid off. We are now
ready to begin the actual construction."
The Council is now finalising its plans for
internal layouts and specifications to feed into the procurement
process which is underway for a main contractor to build the
development and as previously reported Demolition and Enabling work
has now started.
The cost of the approx 3,400 m² new building
and associated works e.g. Highways, Demolition etc. will be in the
region of £5 million funded by the insurance settlement and
partner/tenant contributions.
An Artist’s impression of the New Building in
the Street Scene has been produced and can be accessed from the

improvements are not illustrated):
