Council Headquarters Near Completion
Press Release
8 August 2011
The Council’s new
headquarters are nearing completion.
The insurance and partner
funded £5.6M building is being handed over to the Council for
further fit out works.
Councillor Malise Graham said “a lot of hard work has gone into
ensuring that this project is within budget and it is hoped that
the efficiency savings, that we have planned for, will become
evident very soon.”
Hallam Contracts, the
contractor for the building said “Hallam Contracts have been
pleased to have been involved in such a prestigious contract and to
provide what will be a major landmark for the town and the
surrounding area. May we take this opportunity to wish the Council
a successful future in their new building.”
Furniture installation,
office meeting pods construction and extensive IT testing has now
commenced.
Melton Borough Council
will occupy the building at the beginning September 2011 and
partners will then follow in September/October.
Local shopkeeper said “We
are very excited about the opening of Parkside the new Council
offices in this part of town and the potential impact it will have
on our Tyre business. We have waited a long time for something to
happen on the Burton Street site, only 12 months ago the site was
still derelict and it is great to see the improvements now taking
shape. The Council have kept us informed about the development and
we look forward to them moving in!”
