COUNCIL OFFICE
CONSULTATION CONSIDERED A SUCCESS
PRESS RELEASE
11 JUNE 2009
The Council has been running a variety of
consultation events over the past couple of months on it’s plans
for building New Council Offices at the Burton Street site,
including an event at the Samworth Centre, stalls on Market Day,
Village Roadshows and a detailed section on it’s website that the
public could access including a consultation questionnaire.
Paul East of Maber Architects said: 'The
Public Consultation raised a number of important issues both for
the site and the new building. We had some very interesting
suggestions for how the building should look and what accommodation
should be included to serve the public. The challenge for the
design team now is to appraise and develop these ideas to see if
they can become a reality in the new building.'
Corporate Director, Christine Marshall said “I
am delighted by the level of interest shown by residents in the new
Council building and the thought-provoking and interesting debate
which has been generated. We are in the process of analysing
the questionnaires we have received and will be reporting to
Members on progress with the project and the consultation
process”.
