COUNCIL TO MAKE DECISION ON SALE OF LAND AT NOTTINGHAM
ROAD
PRESS RELEASE
1 July 2009
The Council will decide on 6 July whether or not to dispose of
land at Nottingham Road.
The bids are being considered by the Policy, Finance and
Administration Committee in private sessions due to the commercial
sensitivity.
Specialist external planning, design, valuation and legal
advisors will be on hand to advise members as they consider this
major decision.
Councillor Malise Graham said…
"This is a huge opportunity for the Council to consider
carefully the leading bids before making a decision on the future
of the Nottingham Road site."
If Councillors make a decision to sell the land subject to
planning permission, a substantial amount of money could be
forthcoming that will enable the Council to take forward projects
such as the Waterfield Leisure Pools Refurbishment ,Cattle Market
Development and Town Centre Regeneration.
The lead bidders consider that their schemes will complement the
town centre, discourage people visiting other places to shop,
provide approx 350 jobs and provide significant capital
investment during this period of economic downturn.
