GREEN ENVIRONMENTAL AGONY AUNT

Melton Borough Council now has their very own
‘Green Environmental Agony Aunt’, ‘Ask Amanda’ a sort of green guru
will promote the principles of environmentally sustainable
practices as well as clear up any common misunderstandings and in
general raise awareness to the Boroughs residents on a range of
issues including waste minimisation, recycling , carbon reduction
and the changing climate. ‘Ask Amanda’ will provide advice on a
wide range of issues such as our recycling service, waste
reduction, home composting, offer green tips such as how to make
the most of your leftovers and in general encourage sustainable
lifestyles and habits.
‘Ask Amanda’ already has her own regular
article in ten Parish newsletters covering over fifteen villages.
Residents have the opportunity to ask questions relating to green
lifestyles and waste management services that the council provide.
Each month ‘Ask Amanda’ will answer questions that residents have
asked through the parish newsletter article. Residents are also
invited to send in their own ‘green tips’ to share with their
neighbours, which will also be included in the article.
The initiative is going well and ‘Ask Amanda’
is beginning to make herself well known to the residents of Melton.
To allow all residents access to the article, it will now be
incorporated into tenant’s newsletters which will widen the
distribution and include residents within the town.
