MELTON YOUTH DAY - NEW COUNCIL OFFICES
CONSULTATION
PRESS RELEASE
27 OCTOBER 2009
The Melton Youth day was a great opportunity
for the Council to get the views & opinions of our younger and
future generation on the plans fir the Councils new offices.
There was an overwhelming enthusiasm for the
modern and sustainable features of the building, with a clear and
consistent message that the new offices should be a building of its
time for this generation, there was also an appreciation of how it
should blend in or appear in relation to the Church and its
surroundings.
Some of the comments made included:
"Looks good! Wicked, like the hole & the
pole"
"Meets the brief, modern, classy & forward
thinking!"
“Would like some colour in the planting”
"It’s a good idea to use space well but should
not be like battery workers"
There was plenty of emphasis on the
environment and the potential for bird boxes, water with the
landscaping and bio-diversity.
In many cases they were unable to pick out
features of the design that they did not like, there was plenty of
support & understanding for why the offices were located by the
station. There were questions about the traffic impact on Burton
St.
