New Council Offices – Update on progress
As previously stated work had to be halted due
to the discovery of Asbestos on site, which has caused a couple of
weeks delay. It has now been dealt with safely in
consultation with the Health and Safety Executive and the
contractors are back working on site.
The Council is discussing with the contractor
any implications this may have on the programme of works. In
the mean time they are seeking to realign their work programme in
order to catch up on some of the time that has been lost.
In terms of the insurance settlement the delay
has no impact on the money we receive on the building we
lost. With regard to our interruption cover this does finish
at the end of May 2011 however we have plans for managing this
position should it occur and as stated above we are working with
our contractor on this.
It is expected progress will be more visible
by late November when it is planned the shell of the new building
will be underway.
