STANDARDS CASE DISMISSED
PRESS RELEASE
6 October 2011
Melton Council’s Standards Committee has
dismissed a complaint against the Leader of the
Council, Malise Graham MBE, which was made in January 2010 by
Mr. M.O. Powderly. The complaint alleged that Councillor
Graham had showed extreme and inappropriate bias in favour of the
relocation of Melton Borough Council offices to a new site adjacent
to the railway station in Melton Mowbray, by way of comments in the
media since March 2009.
Malise Graham, Leader of the Council, said
:
“It is important that those in public service
are accountable to those they serve and I am pleased that
this independent enquiry has upheld the view that I had
not acted inappropriately.”
The full decision of the Standards Committee
is available from the 21 July
2011 Standards Assessment (Consideration) Sub-Committee
page.
