'I am a Meltonian born and bred, and feel very strongly that we should take a pride in our town and our Borough.

I am currently President of Melton Young Farmers' Club, Vice President of Leicestershire and Rutland Young Farmers' Movement; Trustee of the Melton Hunting Museum and Trustee of Waltham on the Wolds Village Hall.

I am semi-retired. My pride and joy is my 18 month old greyhound bitch called Fizz. We recently came 2nd in a six legged competition at Waltham Charter Fair in September - Fizz's 4 legs and my 2. My Grand-daughter came 4th with her dog.

It might be interesting to note that my uncle George Atkinson founded the committee which built Melton Mowbray swimming baths. The town and the Borough pulled together with a carnival in June every year and numerous other fund-raising activities until the money was raised to build the baths.
