I am lucky to have served the Somerby Ward for the past 10 years
or so and I still feel as passionate now about the ward as I did
when I was first elected. I have lived in the ward
all my life and have built many contacts through being a
member of Somerby Parish Council. It has always been a
priority to support the 3 Parish Councils in my ward and I
attend the meetings when I can and encourage others to support
their local Council.
One thing that I have learnt since being a Councillor is that
you cannot achieve anything on your own, I need the support and
co-operation of others. There are campaigns to save the
village Surgery and Post Office but these campaigns need the
support and co-operation of the community; I am sure that in the
months and years to come there will be other campaigns to preserve
our rural community now and for future generations. An issue
that definitely needs to be addressed is Affordable Housing for the
benefit of providing housing for local people, young and old.
