The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Beacons – Monday 4 June 2012
It is hoped that Leicestershire will
be able to create at least 40 beacons across the City and County;
given the number of sites required, there is no expectation that
all beacons will be seen by their nearest neighbouring beacon. This
should make it easier for a wider range of locations to get
involved, such as villages, landowners, country houses and so on.
Where space permits the beacon lighting can either be a public
occasion or a private celebration for friends and family.
All those taking part, whether public
or private, will have their beacon location listed within a special
book that will be given to The Queen after the event. Only the
details of the public beacons will have their locations sent to the
media in advance of 4th June.
A copy of the official guide to
taking part can be found
