POLITICAL REPRESENTATION

There are 28 Councillors serving on Melton Borough Council.  They are each elected for a 4 year term and represent different Wards (or areas) within the borough.

The current Leader of the Council is Councillor Byron Rhodes (Conservative).  The political representation of the Council is as follows:

• Conservative               19
• Labour                          7
• Independent                  2

Therefore the Conservatives have overall control of the Council.

The next Borough Election is to be held in May 2015.

The Calendar of Meetings and the Committee Memberships are approved at the Annual Meeting of the Council held in May each year.
