Notes

1) In accordance with the guidelines outsourced activities provided by external parties have been included within Scope 3.These include the waste management contract undertaken by Verdant, the Housing repairs service provided by Jeakins Weir and the Waterfields Leisure Pool operated by SLM.

2) For 2010/11 MBC has not been able to quantify the amount of commuter mileage staff incur by travelling to and from their place of work. This information is currently being collected so it can be included in future years. Emissions from the use of water and waste disposal have not been included in the figures for either 2010/11 or previous years.

3) Emissions from air conditioning plants in our office buildings have been excluded from the above figures due to the cost of data collection. Such equipment would only be responsible for less than 0.5% of our Scope 1 emissions.

4) As a signatory to the Nottingham Declaration Melton Borough Council is committed to reducing its Greenhouse Gas Emissions over the next five years by a total of 4% per year from the base year of 2008/09. Whilst some progress has been made on this future action will focus on engaging staff and Partners on energy saving through behavioral change at the new Parkside Council Offices, working with Verdant to improve the fuel efficiency of their vehicle fleet and improving insulation at other council premises particularly sheltered housing schemes.
