Overcrowding

Overcrowding of privately occupied dwelling houses is controlled by the Environmental Health section of Melton Borough Council.   Rooms can be measured and a "permitted number" of occupants issued.  For further information please contact Environmental Health.

Also to be considered are Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs). Where these buildings are three or more storeys high and have five or more individuals in two or more households then these types of HMOs are licensable by the local authority.
