Balloon Releases
Balloon releases often occur in relation to
charity events and can be a good way of increasing awareness of
good causes or raising funds.
Balloons can however harm the environment and
wildlife and cause littering problems, especially after they burst
at high altitudes. With this in mind The Balloon Association
NABAS has produced Guidance and a Code of Practice for
anyone considering releasing balloons in this
way. The guidance leaflet is available below along with a
link to the NABAS website which will provide you with further
useful information.
Please note that it is also an offence under
the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to drop, throw, deposit or
leave anything that causes the defacement in a public place. The
average fine for littering is £95 and can be as high as £2500.
