Pollution Control - Cleaner Fuels
High levels of traffic pollution are known to
have adverse effects on health and are of particular concern to
those living and working in urban centres, who suffer from
respiratory ailments.
Whether you are an individual or fleet
manager, there are a range of cleaner fuels and vehicles on the
market that not only offer significant environmental benefits but
have lower running costs.
Cars running on cleaner fuels may receive tax
concessions and other rebates. Cleaner vehicles attract
PowerShift or CleanUp grants from Transport Energy to cover a
portion of the extra cost of buying a new cleaner vehicle(s) or
converting an existing diesel or petrol vehicle(s) to run on
cleaner fuels.
In addition, grants are available for the
retrofitting of abatement technology on to existing vehicles, such
as particle traps on lorries. The Power Shift scheme offers
grants to both individual motorists and fleet managers, towards the
additional cost of buying a new cleaner vehicle or converting an
existing vehicle to run on cleaner fuels.
The Clean Up Scheme has the aim of cutting
emissions from commercial diesel vehicles (such as black cabs,
lorries, buses, emergency vehicles and refuse trucks) by assisting
with the cost of fitting emission reduction technologies.Types of
