5How to Apply for a dangerous wild animals licence
Applications for a licence must be made to the
Local Authority, and a licence may be issued providing the
applicant is not disqualified or has been convicted under the
Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976. Except in exceptional
circumstances, the person making the application must be the person
who owns and possesses or proposes to own and possess the animal to
which the application applies.
The licence will run from January until
December each year at which time it will need to be renewed.
Renewals must be applied for before the licence
expires.
To apply for a licence we
require:
- a completed application
form
- Payment of the application fee of £125 (+ vet's
fees)
- Payment of the inspection fee of the Council's authorised
Veterinary Surgeon or Veterinary Practitioner
- Your public liability insurance certificate
The premises are then inspected by the
aforementioned Veterinary Surgeon and
by Environmental Health before a licence can be
issued.
