How to Apply for a
DOG BREEDING Licence
Please complete the application form
and submit this with your payment of the fee to Melton Borough
Council. The current fees are listed below.
Once received, your application will be
assessed by Environmental Health and the Dog Warden and
your premises will be subject to an inspection. If you are
applying for a brand new licence or as a professional dog breeder
then an inspection by a veterinary surgeon will also be required.
You will have to pay the vet's fees. A vet's inspection is not
required for renewal applications. Provided the results are
satisfactory then a licence with conditions will be
issued.
Licences run from January to December each
year and are renewable by December 31st. There are no
pro-rata refunds for applications made part way through a
year.
If you are considering opening a new dog
breeding establishment you are advised to speak to our Animal Licensing
Officer / Dog Warden for advice and also ensure you have any
necessary planning
permissions.
