How to
Apply FOR A PET SHOP LICENCE
Please complete the Pet shop application
form and submit this with your payment of the fee to Melton
Borough Council. The fee is currently £95.
Once received, your application will be
assessed by Environmental Health and the Animal Licensing Officer
and your premises will be subject to an inspection. Provided
the results are satisfactory then a licence with
conditions will be issued.
Licences run from January to December each
year and are renewable by December 31st. There are no
pro-rata refunds for applications made part way through a
year.
If you are considering opening a new Pet Shop
you are advised to speak to our Dog Warden / Animal Licensing
Officer and ensure you have any necessary planning permissions.
Animal Licensing Officer
The Animal Licensing Officer is
responsible for the inspection, licensing and investigation of
complaints with regard to Animal Boarding Establishments, Dog
Breeding Establishments, Pet Shops and Zoos.
He is also available to give advice to anyone
who is operating or thinking of setting up one of these businesses
