Local Land Charges
When you are looking to buy or sell a house you are now
required to produce a Home Information Pack
(HIPS). The Local Land Charges Search forms part
of this pack. A request for the information for the pack will
be made either from a Solicitors submitting the LLC1 and CON 29
Forms or by a Personal Search Company.
If the request is made via a solicitor submitting the forms the
local authority staff will carry out the searches on their
behalf.
If the request is made by a Personal Search Company a member of
their staff will visit the offices and inspect the registers and
information that is available for public inspection.
The Council holds information on issues such as planning,
building control, environmental health. The highway authority for
Melton Borough is Leicestershire County Council.
A Local land Charges Search is designed to give a potential
purchaser information on the property they are buying together with
the other components of the HIPs Pack.
At present HIPs Packs are not required for the Sale of
Commercial Premises or Land.
