Demolitions - Control and Advice
Introduction
Planning legislation imposes controls over
demolition in certain circumstances, for example in Conservation Areas and in respect of
listed
buildings. These controls are not just limited to
buildings, but can be imposed in respect of walls and other
structures. This legislation has a series of exemptions which allow
limited demolition to proceed without obtaining consent. The
Council can advise on the circumstances under which the demolition
of buildings or other structures requires Planning Permission or
Conservation Area Consent.
Applying for Permission to Demolish a Structure
The forms for Conservation Area Consent and
Planning Permission to demolish a structure can be
found within the planning application forms page of the
website.
