Dog Waste Bins

 

Melton Borough Council are responsible for the provision, installation, maintenance and emptying of Dog Waste bins within Melton Mowbray Town, and also for the emptying of Dog Waste Bins in the Borough.

 

How often do the dog waste bins get emptied?


Dog Waste bins are emptied once a week in Melton Mowbray town, and twice a week elsewhere in the Borough.

 

What day is the dog waste bin emptied?


The Dog Waste Bins are emptied on the same day as the black wheeled bin collection and within 48 hours of the brown wheeled bin collection

 

Who installs the dog waste bins?


Melton Borough Council installs the bins in Melton Mowbray. Parish Councils install the bins in villages.

 

What should I do if I see that a bin needs emptying?


If you see a dog waste bin which needs to be emptied, please contact Customer Services at Melton Borough Council by calling (01664) 502502. Please give as much information as possible regarding the location of the bin. On receiving advice that a bin needs to be emptied Melton Borough Council will first check the emptying schedule for the area where the bin is located. If the bin is due to be emptied the next day no further action will be taken. Should the due date not be the next day the contractor concerned will be requested to empty the bin.

 

What should I do if I see that a bin has been damaged?


If you see a dog waste bin which has been vandalised or damaged, please contact Customer Services at Melton Borough Council using the number above. Please give as much information as possible regarding the location of the bin. On receiving advice that a bin has been damaged, or requires cleaning, Melton Borough Council will arrange for a Waste Management Inspector to visit and inspect the bin. Should it be considered necessary, arrangements will be made to have the bin repaired or cleaned.

 

Littering

 

The Environmental Protection Act 1990 says that if a person drops, throws, deposits or leaves anything that causes the defacement in a public place, they are committing a littering offence. The average fine for littering is £95 and can be as high as £2500.
