PRIDE IN MELTON CAMPAIGN
Melton Borough Council is once again teaming
up with The Melton Times for the Pride in Melton Campaign and
would like everyone to take part.
Most people will have seen a Grot Spot, some
fly tipping, graffiti or an abandoned vehicle and we want you
to tell us where it is so we can cleanse the area; making the
Melton Borough a better place for everyone to live in.
It’s not just Grot Spots that we want you to
tell us about, we also want to know about any neglected areas of
grass, dog fouling or overgrown spaces; anything that you feel
needs to be to resolved.
This is one of the Council’s top priorities
and our Environmental team is ready to respond to any calls or
emails that we receive.
If you see anything that’s requires fixing or
cleansing, please call The Melton Times Grot Spot Action Desk on
01664 412 521.
Once we are aware of the problem either our
Environmental Maintenance team, Town Estate or Leicestershire
Highways will deal with your grot spot. Once completed, we will let
you know that it has been cleansed.
During the campaign Melton Borough Council
will also be loaning out litter picking kits, which consist of
litter pickers, gloves, high visibility waistcoats and black bags,
and all litter collected and placed in black bags will be collected
free of charge.
Leader Malise Graham said: "We are lucky to
live in such a wonderful part of the country but there are areas of
our community which are not up to scratch and some that are even a
disgrace.
"No-one can be everywhere but everyone is
somewhere and Melton Council and the Melton Times have joined
forces to ask you to identify areas that let the side down.
Melton Times editor Michael Cooke added: "We
all want Melton to be cleaner and greener so I would urge
readers to call the action desk today and we will report
back on progress week by week.
