Things you need to know about the Green Waste Club

 

1.

How can I apply for the new chargeable Green Waste Club?

- The Green Waste Club will be managed by Biffa and will cost around £32.00.

- You can sign up by calling the hotline number on 0800 0858 286  or visit www.greenwasteclub.co.uk  

Enter your first name, e-mail address and postcode into the 'Looking to find out more about your local scheme?....'' box for further information or to join the scheme.

 

2.

Is the Green Waste Club charge an annual charge?

- Yes. Biffa will advise residents who sign up to the Green Waste Club of collection days and frequency of collections.

- Biffa will notify customers when a subscription is due for renewal.

 

3.

Are there any concessions for residents receiving benefits?

- No, but there is an option to pay by direct debit monthly.

 

4.

Will bio bags still be issued to households that cannot store a green waste bin?

- The Council will not be supplying bio bags anymore, but Biffa will have a similar system in place.

 

5.

What will the crews do if a bin is contaminated?

- If the collection crews find items in the bin that should not be there, it will not be collected.
- The resident will be left with a bin tag explaining why it has been left.

- If a genuine mistake has been made, Biffa will empty and return it for a charge to assist these customers.

 

6.

How many green bins can residents purchase?

- As many as they feel they need the capacity for.

- There is a 33% discount on the second and any subsequent bins.

Does Leicestershire County Council still provide subsidised compost bins?

- Yes, Leicestershire County Council provides subsidised compost bins.

- Currently they are available in two sizes, 220 litres (£8.00) and 330 litres (£9.50) with a buy one get one half price offer.

I only have a very small garden and do not produce a large amount of green waste, do I still have to subscribe to the Green Waste Club?

- Yes, if you want your garden waste to be collected; alternatively if your garden is relatively small why not consider sharing a bin with a neighbour?
