Difficulty Paying Your rent?
If you fall into arrears with your rent, we will work with you
to help you manage your rent arrears and arrange for you to make up
missed payments through affordable instalments. If you don't
tell us you've got a problem, or if you don't keep to an agreement
to pay off the debt, we can't help you!
If you don't pay your rent, there will be less money
to pay for things like repairs. That is one of the reasons that
non-payment is taken very seriously. If you do not pay your rent,
you may face a County Court Judgement, the intervention of bailiffs
and the loss of your home. This would seriously harm your chances
of obtaining credit and may prevent you finding a home in the
future.
The sooner you get in touch, the sooner you can get help with
your payments. You might be eligible for Housing
Benefit, or you might just need to make an agreement
to pay a little less until you're back on your feet and can
catch up.
If you do get behind with rent, you will receive letters,
telling you what you should do. please don't ignore them.
Please remember: Your rent is due weekly in advance. If you pay
monthly or fortnightly, please make sure you pay in the first week
of the cycle to stop your account going into arrears.
