Local Housing Allowance (LHA) was introduced in April 2008 as a new Housing Benefit scheme which currently only affects tenants and landlords of privately rented accommodation. The scheme had been designed to be a fairer and simpler way of working out Housing Benefit for people on a low income.
With effect from 1st April 2011 there have been some significant changes to the scheme particularly around the amount you may now expect to receive.
