Older Persons Housing Needs

A study has been undertaken to understand the housing needs and aspirations of older people in Leicestershire to inform the development of strategic services for this section of the population.

The study, conducted by Salford Housing and Urban Studies unit of The University of Salford, consulted a total of 189 older people and used a mix of focus groups, self-completion surveys and interviews to collect the data.

This research has identified a number of recommendations; one being the need to develop longer-term strategies to address the use of difficult to let sheltered housing stock.   A Qualitative Assessment of the Housing Needs and Aspirations of Older People in Leicetershire is available to download here.
