Sheltered Accommodation
Melton Borough Council has sheltered flats and
bungalows designated for older people with a need of support. Most
sheltered schemes have an on site warden, communal facilities and a
guest bedroom where relatives may stay when visiting tenants. A 24
hour lifeline alarm service is provided in each property. You can
apply for sheltered accommodation directly to Melton Borough
Council using the Housing
Application Form. All allocations are made in accordance with
our Housing Allocations Policy.
Housing 21 have flats at Mowbray Court, Melton
Mowbray and Nottingham Community Housing Association have flats at
Warwick Flats, Bottesford. Melton Borough Council has nomination
rights to these properties but you may also apply directly to the

Gretton Court Extra Care Scheme
Melton Borough Council operates an Extra Care
scheme for older people at Gretton Court. To be considered for this
scheme you must have been assessed as needing care by social
services. Gretton Court has communal facilities and a hot meal is
provided at lunch time. To apply please complete the usual Housing Application Form
indicating that you wish to be considered for Gretton Court and how
much care you receive per week. Please also include a copy of
your social services needs profile where possible.
All applicants are banded according to how
much care they receive and allocations made to satisfy a mix of
care needs within the scheme. Allocations to Gretton Court
are made via an allocations panel consisting of Melton Borough
Council housing options officers, the manager of Gretton Court and
representatives from social services.

fees and charges associated with Sheltered and Supported Housing.
These charges are additional to the Rent and any Supporting People
charges raised by Leicestershire County Council.
