Adapting homes for disabled people
Help may be available to help residents with disabilities or health related problems which affect their ability to stay living in their homes. In Leicestershire, the Lightbulb partnership across the local authorities now undertakes this work. They work with Leicestershire County Council Occupational Therapists who carry out assessments to see where an adaption might help.
For all adaptations or provision of equipment
- Contact the LCC Social Services centre on 0116 305 0004 to request an assessment to be completed.
- Your needs will be assessed by a member of the Lightbulb Team.
- If you live in a council property or a property owned by a housing association a recommendation will be made to your landlord. If you are an owner occupier or live in private rented accommodation you will be advised of additional services available. These may include the provision of aids and adaptations or help with major alterations to your property.
If you wish you can complete a self assessment form. This is available using the link below to the Leicestershire County Council website
