The Mayors appeal
The Mayor, Councillor Tejpal Bains, is pleased to announce that his Mayor's Appeal for 2017/18 will be for two organizations:
Loros LOROS (Hospice Care for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland)
LOROS Hospice is a local charity and every year cares for over 2,500 people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
It is a charity whose aim is to enhance the quality of life of adult patients with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end-stage organ failure for whom curative treatment is no longer possible.
Patients are treated at the Hospice and in the community based upon clinical need, regardless of background and the ability to pay. They deliver free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill patients, their family and carers which is unique to each individual.
LOROS specialises in holistic, multidisciplinary care, focused on the whole person and including family and carers. The care given takes into account the patients' physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs as well as their own choices. Family members are supported in adjusting to loss and bereavement.
LOROS also contributes to the education and training of its own and other health and social care professionals and of volunteers. The charity is also committed to research in order to improve the understanding and practice of palliative care.

NRAS (National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society East and West Midlands)
The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society is 'the voice' of people affected by Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) across the whole of the UK and in due course, hope to be so for Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA).
Founded in 2001, it is the only UK charity devoted specifically to RA. It launched a service for families, children, young people and adults affected by Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis in 2014.
