Be cautious about people claiming to be from the Valuation Office advising they can reduce your Council Tax band for a fee. Please refrain from disclosing personal information such as bank details

Mayor Awards 2017

The Mayor awards of Merit scheme is a way of formally recognising achievements of individuals and/or organisations within the Borough. 

The nominations for the Mayor’s Awards are now closed.  

Thank you to everyone who has submitted a nomination. Successful nominees and their proposers will be contacted after 3 April.  A special presentation event hosted by the Mayor will take place for the successful nominees, their families and nominators on Wednesday 26 April.

Types of Awards 

Mayors Award of Merit 

To provide an opportunity for outstanding contributions to be recognised by the Mayor on behalf of the Borough of Melton. Also, it is hoped that this acknowledgement may inspire others to be involved in community activities and helping  others. What type of individual, group or organisation is eligible? 

  • Individuals over the age of 18 
  • Organisations specifically for those  over the age of 18 
  • Those who make an outstanding and selfless contribution to the  community 
  • Those who are kind, thoughtful and  helpful and do not expect reward.

Young Citizen Award

To nominate those young people who have made an outstanding contribution to the community. Also, to recognise the positive role young people play in our community today and encourage our youth to be thoughtful and caring citizens of the future. What type of individual or organisation is eligible? 

  • Individuals who are 25 or under 
  • Organisations specifically for  the 25 and under age range 
  • Those who make an outstanding and selfless contribution to the  community 
  • Those who are kind, thoughtful and helpful and do not expect reward.

Melton Borough Award

It was introduced in 2009 to recognise those who contribute to the life of the Borough. To provide an opportunity to recognise those who provide an outstanding service to the Borough through their job role, and this may include paid employment. What type of individual or organisation is eligible? 

Those who contribute to the life of the Borough through examples such as: 

  • promotion of the Borough/community 
  • going beyond their job role and  going the ‘extra mile’ 
  • benefiting others due to their work 
  • introducing and implementing innovative ideas 
  • overcoming personal difficulties 
  • must be over the age of 18
