Empty residential properties
There are a number of issues related to residential properties that are unoccupied, ranging from the loss of resources to the potential for nuisance issues.
Environmental Health and Planning Enforcement have powers to encourage the owners of these properties to bring them back into use.
Some of the common problems associated with empty properties are they
- Attracting anti-social behaviour, fly tipping and vandalism
- Cause blight and have a negative impact on the area
- Lost resource to the community at a time of limited housing supply
- Depreciation of housing values
