2016 Police and Crime Commissioner Election
Elections for the Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) will take place on Thursday 5 May 2016. North West Leicestershire District Council is the lead authority for these elections. If you need further information contact us.
Voters in 41 police force areas in England & Wales, excluding London, will elect a Police and Crime Commissioner for their force area.

How can I stand as a candidate in the PCC Elections?
You must be:
• at least 18 years old on the day of your nomination
• a British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of any other member state of the European Union, and
• registered as a local government elector with a local council within the Leicestershire area both at the time of your nomination and on polling day

There are 2 briefing sessions for Candidates and Agents to give further information about key processes in the election timetable.
The first session will be held on Tuesday 16 February 2016 from 6.00pm until 7.30pm in the Board Room, Council Offices, Whitwick Road, Coalville, Leicestershire LE67 3FJ. This session will cover the nomination process, issue of poll cards, registering to vote, postal voting and deadlines.
The second session will be held on Wednesday 13 April 2016 from 4.30pm until 6.00pm in the Council Chamber, Council Offices, Whitwick Road, Coalville, Leicestershire LE67 3FJ. This session will cover the period leading up to polling day, polling day itself, verification and count arrangements and expenses.

Nominations to stand for election as a candidate for the PCC elections will be accepted by Electoral Services at the Council Offices, Whitwick Road, Coalville, Leicestershire LE67 3FJ between the hours of 10am and 4pm from Thursday 24 March until close of nominations at 4pm on Thursday 7 April 2016.

Completed nomination forms together with the required deposit must be submitted in person to the PARO at Electoral Services, Council Offices, Whitwick Road, Coalville, Leicestershire LE67 3FJ during the hours and dates stated above. It is advisable to contact staff on 01530 454511 prior to your visit. How can I vote in PCC Elections?
To vote on 5 May 2016 you must be registered on the electoral roll or have applied to register by Monday 18 April 2016.
If you want to vote by post you must be registered and we must have received your completed postal vote application form by 5pm Tuesday 19 April 2016.
