The Council operates a number of insurance policies in relation to Council owned property, motor, engineering, public liability, etc. This does not include claims arising from damage/injuries caused by any defect in the public highway, which is the responsibility of Leicestershire County Council.
If you feel that you do have a potential claim against the Council then please write to the Head of Central Services including as much detail about the claim as possible. The Council will then forward details of your claim to the Council's insurers, who will correspond directly to you on our behalf.
Insurance Claims through the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) process
To assist claimant representatives in the identification of Melton Borough Council’s insurers for insurance claims through the MOJ process, it should be noted that insurance details are as follows:
Zurich Municipal Policy number: QLA 10H080 0113
Zurich Municipal’s portal ID: C00108
Tenants' Home Contents Insurance Scheme
The Council provides a Home Contents Insurance Scheme for Council Tenants in conjunction with Aviva. Details of the cover available and terms can be obtained by applying to Customer Services at the Council Offices.
If it is necessary to make a claim under this policy you should in the first instance contact Customer Services (01664 502502) at Parkside who will forward the relevant claim form.
As the insurance premium forms part of the rent payments, should these be in arrears it may jeopardise any potential claim being accepted. Once the claim form has been received this should be completed as soon as possible and forwarded directly to the claims agent (contact details are provided below), who will deal direct with the claim.
If you already feel that all the above criteria has been met, you can download a claim form by clicking here.
