The Safer Melton Partnership (SMP) which was created to reduce crime and disorder within the local authority area. The SMP is required to produce a 3 year 'rolling' community safety strategy which is reviewed annually. To help us identify the community safety issues which matter most to communities, the Partnership prepares an annual strategic assessment which is based on community consultation, crime audits and statistical information from all partner agencies.
Based on the 2010/11 strategic assessment the SMP identified the following priorities for the first year of the Community Safety Plan 2011-2014:
1. Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour and Enhancing Public Confidence.
2. Tackling Domestic Abuse.
3. Tackling Serious Acquisitive Crime, Including Domestic Burglary.
4. Enhancing Road Safety.
5. Creating a Safer Town, tackling Violence, Alcohol Related Disorder and Theft.
6. Tackling Rural Crime.
7. Reducing Re-Offending.
8. Focusing on Priority Neighbourhoods and areas of High Crime and Disorder.
