How do I rent an allotment?

Applying for an Allotment

Availability and Rent

Allotment PictureBefore making a formal application to rent a plot it is advisable that you check which plots are available. The Allotments Administrator can advise you on availability and send you plans of each site along with an application form.

Rent is £40.00 per annum and is paid in advance each March. The Council offers a reduced rate of £26.67 per annum for those who receive income related benefits. If you apply for a plot after March you will receive a pro-rata invoice for the remaining number of months.

Application Process

You need to complete an application form detailing the plot number and site of the allotment you wish to rent and return it by post to the Council offices (contact details can be found below). To download a copy of the application form, please click here. Alternatively, you can contact us using the number below and ask for a form to be sent to you.

Once the application has been accepted you will be sent an agreement detailing the conditions of your tenancy. To see an example of the tenancy agreement, please click here. This needs to be signed by yourself and a witness and returned to the Council offices. A copy will then be forwarded to you to keep as a personal record. An invoice will follow.
