Loo of the Year Awards

Loo of the Year 2009 LogoMelton Borough Council is committed to providing a high quality public convenience service to local residents, tourists and local businesses. As a reflection of this commitment, each year we enter the prestigious Loo of the Year Award.

The Loo of the Year Award was introduced in 1987, and was designed to focus attention on any kind of "away from home" toilet facility. The simple objective of the award is to encourage the highest possible standards in any kind of "away from home" toilet or public convenience.

There are over sixty award categories, plus awards for Family Friendly toilets and the Attendant of the Year. Entries are accepted from anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Over one hundred different inspection criteria are used to assess the toilets.
