100 Days to Go

To celebrate the Olympic Torch Test Relay passing through Melton and 100 days to go till the Olympics, the Melton Borough Council Sports Team, part of Active Melton and Leicester-shire and Rutland Sport have organised a Beginner’s Activity Day to showcase some exciting activities that Melton has to offer!

King Edward VII Sports Centre is hosting the day. It kicks off at 11:30am with a New Age Kurling session. New Age Kurling is a recent addition to Melton’s physical activity provisions, with two clubs now in existence, one at King Edward and one at Thorpe Arnold Village Hall. The day will finish at 5:30pm with a Zumba session for all. In between, visitors will be given the opportunity to try out a large variety of sports and activities including badminton, Boxercise, tai chi, laughter yoga and circuits. Family Play sessions will also be available between 12:30 and 2:30 pm. The day is completely free and booking is not necessary. Everyone and all ages are welcome.

From 3:30pm till 6:30pm Play Close will host some exciting activities aimed at families and children. Terminal 1 Skate Park is coming to help improve your BMX, skateboard and scooter skills, whilst Active Melton’s Street Stadia will be there to help improve your football skills. Run England will be on the lookout for future Olympic athletic champions, and Leicestershire and Rutland County Golf Partnership are bringing inflatable nets for you to test out your golfing ability.
