Volunteering Opportunities
There are numerous opportunities for people to become involved
in a wide range of sports events. For more information please see
below.
Sport Makers
Sport Makers is national initiative by
Sport England, to train volunteers to help make sport happen.
The Sport Makers programme will recruit, train and deploy 40,000
new sports volunteers aged 16 years and over to organise and lead
community sporting activities across the country. Each Sport Maker
will attend a FREE 3 hour induction workshop where they will also
get to meet other Sport Makers and receive a Sport Makers adidas
polo shirt and goodies.
Volunteering in sport isn’t just about
being a coach or an official - it can involve volunteering at
events, organising a lunchtime running group, 5-a-side football
league or even rounders in the park! Or perhaps use your IT,
marketing, administration, fundraising and management skills to
support clubs. With the Olympics coming up we will be looking for
volunteers to help with our activities and to make Melton a
sportier place!
In the current economic climate employers
look for dedicated and experienced individuals, therefore
volunteering can really improve CV’s. It can help to develop new
skills and improve confidence.
All we ask is that Sport Makers are over 16
and are interested in making a difference in Melton. With the
Olympic Torch passing through Melton there will be lots of
opportunities to get involved over the coming months. Use Sport
Makers to help leave a sporting legacy in Melton.
There is a Sport Makers workshop taking place on Monday 23rd
January, 6-9pm in the Cove Children's Centre on Sysonby Street.
Register online at www.sportmakers.com to ensure
your space!
