Below are some of our Top Tips when looking for work.

1. Refresh your CV regularly, and always ask an advisor to check it over before you send it. You can find lots of great CV templates you can use online, just run a google search or click here

2. The average time to complete a professional application form is four to six hours – never rush the application form!

3. Tidy up your social network profile, employers do check!

4. Ask a friend or adviser to check your application form and the covering letter.

5. Have your certificates and qualifications standing by to present at interview.

6. Presentation is crucial in an interview – first impressions last! Make sure you attend your interview smartly dressed and presentable.

7. In an interview situation, remember manners, be presentable and be enthusiastic!

8. In the interview – offer solutions not excuses.

9. Commit at least two hours a day to job seeking.

10. Aim higher and apply for everything you can.

11. Remember JSA is paid to help you with interview costs – travel, interview wear etc.

12. Ask for help if you need it.
