Flags to be flown at Parkside for the Queen's longest reignPublished Friday, 28th August 2015
On 9 September, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will become the longest serving Monarch in the history of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth,
surpassing the reign of her great-great-grandmother Victoria.
This extraordinary milestone will be acknowledged and commemorated by the Mayor of the Borough of Melton, Councillor Jeanne Douglas, by the flying of the Union flag from the senior flag pole at Parkside, Melton Mowbray, flanked by the Melton Borough Council flag and the County flag.
On the following day, 10 September, the Mayor will join with the Lord Lieutenant, Jennifer, Lady Gretton and other civic dignitaries and representatives of a wide range of organisations in a special service of Evensong at Leicester Cathedral to commemorate this historic moment.
On behalf of the Borough, the Mayor will be sending Loyal Greetings to Her Majesty offering our thanks and appreciation for her long and distinguished reign.
