Melton resident charged for benefit fraudPublished Friday, 28th August 2015
A Melton resident who falsely claimed £3205.01 in Housing Benefit has been sentenced to a community punishment order for 12 months with 100 hours of unpaid work.
Miss Samantha Phyllis Lees, age 31, of 47 Queensway, Old Dalby, Melton Mowbray, Leics, LE14 3QQ dishonestly failed to report a change in her income between 18th July 2011 and 22nd April 2012.
Lees pleaded not guilty; but after a trial on 25th August 2015, Leicester Magistrates Court found her guilty of the offence of dishonestly failing to promptly report a change in her circumstances.
She was ordered to pay £500 costs and will also have to repay the £3205.01.
